Tungsten Carbide Saw Blade Stabilizers
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 19 May 2015
Since carbide saw blades are circular, they are radially the stiffest elements of the power train in the direction of the feed, but very unstable perpendicular to the feed direction. Due to the thin blade body the blades must be stabilized to minimize the side vibration amplitudes. When the first experiments with carbide saws were made, the blade stabilizer was developed using two plastic coated ball bearings mounted on eccentric shafts and supported by a welded bracket to the gearbox. Recently the new patten has been developed, a pair of front stabilizers for machines arranged close to the point at which the blade enters the material. These stabilizers hydraulically extend, when the carbide teeth have moved past the stabilizer tips before cutting and stabilize the blade which also help to guide the blade into the cut to improve the accuracy.

Tungsten Carbide Hand Cutting Tool Rake
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 19 May 2015
For a tungsten carbide hand cutting tool involved in axial milling, there are several rake angles to be addressed, all addressing cutting forces for a given material. Side rake is relative to cutting edge. With positive tungsten carbide hand cutting tools the rake is in the tool, for negative tools, the rake is relative to the position of the tool to the center line. Since there’s no clearance in negative inserts, clearance is provided by normally having a 5 to 7 deg negative rake and side rake for clearance to avoid rubbing. Shear plane is recognizing as the shearing of metal at a given plane, that is relative to the cutting edge. A negative plane offers less shear, more pushing of the material, more horsepower and a stronger edge engaged in the cut zone. A positive plane reduces cutting forces offers freer cutting, less horsepower and a weaker cutting edge. Clearance is the angle below or behind the cutting edge.

Tungsten Carbide Saw Bit Tooth Angle (2)
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 19 May 2015
Back Angle
It is the angle between tungsten carbide serrated blade and the machined surface, typically the angle is 15 degrees. Its role is to prevent jagging and machined surface friction, the greater the back angle, the smaller the friction will be, it also suggests more smooth processing processes.
Wedge Angle
It is the derived corner of front corner and rear corner . The wedge angle can not be too small, it plays a role in keeping the teeth strength, heat resistance and durability. Specially the sum of the front angle, back angle and the wedge angle should be equal to 90 degrees.

Tungsten Carbide Saw Bit Tooth Angle (1)
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 19 May 2015
Saw bit tooth angle is an important determinant of tungsten carbide saw blade cutting performance, which (rake angle, back angle, wedge angle) recognized as the serrated position when cutting, and also an important determinant of carbide saw blade cutting performance. It owns a great effort in improving product quality, shorten cycle times, reducing processing costs in accordance by adopting a reasonable set of tungsten carbide serrated cutting angle.

Rake Angle
Serrated cutting edge angle, angle range varied from 10 to 15 degrees. As an impact of sawing wood consumed power. The sharper the serrated cutting rake angle, the better it performance will be( more portable of cutting, easier of pushing power). Usually relatively soft material is suitable to be processed if the rake angle is large, otherwise a smaller rake angle will be an option.

Tungsten Carbide Saws Design
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 19 May 2015
Tungsten carbide saws are designed with ways, such as horizontal, vertical or tilted slide-arrangement. This designed ways consist of a welded base made of ribbing solid steel plates, and the vibration dampening material is filled inside. Furthermore, the occurring forces and dampens vibrations are required to be absorbed by the base. Case-hardened ways are bolted on the base where the gearbox slides.

The slide is guided by taper gibs with a minimum play, or hydraulically operated gibs which can be preloaded to eliminate play, in order to obtain the necessary rigidity. Recently, preloaded linear ways have also been used. Experts still debate, if preloaded box ways with low friction plastic lining are better vibration dampening than preloaded, hardened linear ways with hardened balls or rollers.

How Tungsten Alloy Linear Particle Accelerator Works
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 18 May 2015
Linear particle accelerator is a type of particle accelerator that generate X-rays and high energy electrons for medicinal purposes in radiation therapy. Since its high density and atomic mass, tungsten alloy exhibits excellent absorption behaviour against electromagnetic radiation such as X-rays and gamma-radiation, a linear particle accelerator is most commonly made of tungsten alloy.
Tungsten alloy linear particle accelerator use mono energetic electron beams between 4 and 25 MeV, giving an X-ray output with a spectrum of energies up to and including the electron energy when the electrons are directed at a high-density target, which is tungsten alloy. The electrons or X-rays can be used to treat both benign and malignant disease.

Tungsten Alloy Linear Particle Accelerator
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 18 May 2015
Tungsten alloy linear particle accelerator is a type of particle accelerator that greatly increases thekinetic energy of charged subatomic particles or ions by subjecting the charged particles to a series of oscillating electric potentials along a linear beamline. Tungsten alloy linear particle accelerators have many applications: they generate X-rays and high energy electrons for medicinal purposes in radiation therapy, serve as particle injectors for higher-energy accelerators, and are used directly to achieve the highest kinetic energy for light particles (electrons and positrons) for particle physics.
The photograph below shows tungsten alloy materials to manufacture linear particle accelerator.

Tungsten Carbide Glass Cutter
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 18 May 2015
A tungsten carbide glass cutter is a tool used to make a shallow score in one surface of a piece of glass that is to be broken in two pieces. The scoring makes a split in the surface of the glass which encourages the glass to break along the score. Regular, annealed glass can be broken apart this way but not tempered glass as the latter tends to shatter rather than breaking cleanly into two pieces.

The small cutting wheel made of hardened steel or tungsten carbide 4–6 mm in diameter with a V-shaped profile called a "hone angle" is used. The greater the hone angle of the wheel, the sharper the angle of the V and the thicker the piece of glass it is designed to cut. The hone angle on most hand-held glass cutters is 120°, though wheels are made as sharp as 154° for cutting glass as thick as 0.5 inches.

Tungsten Carbide Glass Cutter (1)
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 18 May 2015
Tungsten carbide glass cutters are manufactured with wheels of varying diameters.

One of the most popular has a diameter of 5.5 mm (7⁄32 in). The ratio between the arc of the wheel and the pressure applied with the tool has an important bearing on the degree of penetration.
Average hand pressure with this size wheel often gives good results. For a duller wheel on soft glass a larger wheel (e.g., 6 mm (1⁄4 in) will require no change in hand pressure. A smaller wheel (3 mm (1⁄8 in)) is appropriate for cutting patterns and curves since a smaller wheel can follow curved lines without dragging.

Tungsten Carbide File Application
- Category: Tungsten Information
- Published on 18 May 2015
Tungsten carbide file is a tool applied in shaping metal, wood and other materials. Some common files applications are listed as follows,
Hand files are parallel in width and tapered in thickness; they are used for general work.

Mill files are the most common shape; they are rectangular in cross section and taper slightly in both width and thickness from tang to end. They are all single-cut.
Joint round edge files are parallel in width and thickness, with rounded edges. The flats are safe (no teeth) and cut on the rounded edges only. Used for making joints and hinges.
Needle files are small files that are used in applications where the surface finish takes priority over metal removal rates but they are most suited for smaller work pieces. They are often sold in sets, including different shapes.
