Analysis of Latest Rare Earth Market from Chinatungsten Online
This week, China’s rare earth market showed diverging trends overall, mainly reflected in the continuous decline of praseodymium-neodymium series prices and the fluctuating upward movement of erbium and holmium prices. Against this backdrop, traders showed relatively low willingness to enter the market, and transaction activity remained subdued.
According to China Tungsten Online, there is a relatively long time lag in the transmission of downstream demand to upstream raw materials. Coupled with market participants’ lack of confidence in the future outlook, inquiry and procurement interest remained weak. However, supported by production costs and the favorable long-term development prospects of emerging industries, some suppliers have strengthened their willingness to hold back sales and firm prices.
According to statistics from Chinatungsten Online, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide fell by RMB 19,000/ton this week, a decline of approximately 2.55%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal dropped by RMB 13,000/ton, a decrease of about 1.45%; the price of gadolinium oxide declined by RMB 13,000/ton, a drop of approximately 6.40%; the price of erbium oxide rose by RMB 22,000/ton, an increase of about 3.15%; and the price of holmium oxide increased by RMB 15,000/ton, a rise of approximately 2.31%.
Customs data show that in September 2026, China’s rare earth imports totaled 6,804.7 tons, down 0.83% month-on-month and 0.87% year-on-year, with an import value of 1.00 billion, up 6.38% month-on-month and flat year-on-year. In the same period, China’s rare earth exports amounted to 4,269.8 tons, down 9.83% month-on-month but up 6.74% year-on-year, with an export value of 500 million, down 8.00% month-on-month and up 6.98% year-on-year.
