Rare earth market update on October 12, 2026
At the beginning of the week, the overall domestic rare earth market was relatively weak, mainly manifested in no obvious fluctuations in product prices for the time being, low enthusiasm for traders to enter the market, and slow order growth.
Today, the transaction prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and holmium oxide were around RMB 740,000/ton, RMB 6,480,000/ton, and RMB 640,000/ton, respectively.
According to CTIA GROUP, strong production cost support, limited increments in spot supply of raw materials, and the rapid development of emerging industries are multiple factors supporting suppliers' confidence in maintaining quotations. However, some downstream procurement has not yet returned to normal, coupled with the difficulty of significantly raising short-term prices, resulting in weak upward momentum for rare earth products such as praseodymium, neodymium, terbium, and dysprosium.
On October 9, the second regular meeting of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism issued a joint statement. The Chinese side is willing to continue providing facilitation for the export license approval of rare earths and permanent magnets to the EU through the "green channel" mechanism, and the European side will continue to work with member states to provide facilitation for key licensing cases in dual-use fields related to China. This move helps unlock the potential of China's rare earth exports to the EU and benefits the export side.
