Rare earth market update on October 10, 2026

The overall domestic rare earth market showed no significant changes for the time being. Under the interplay of bullish and bearish factors, both buyers and sellers were relatively cautious in their trading mindset, product prices fluctuated within a narrow range, and the transaction pace was slow.

At present, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and holmium oxide were approximately RMB 740,000/ton, RMB 898,000/ton, and RMB 640,000/ton, respectively.

From the perspective of bullish factors, first, tightening supply of low-priced sources and good development trends in high-end manufacturing have resulted in low supplier willingness to reduce prices; second, the increase in Northern Rare Earth's rare earth concentrate transaction price for the fourth quarter of 2026 strongly supports suppliers in maintaining firm quotations.

From the perspective of bearish factors, relatively ample spot supply of raw materials and the lack of significant upward momentum for short-term rare earth prices have jointly led to a decline in downstream users' purchasing willingness.

In terms of news, recently, Northern Rare Earth issued an announcement stating that, according to the rare earth concentrate pricing method and the rare earth oxide prices in the third quarter of 2026, the rare earth concentrate transaction price for the fourth quarter of 2026 was adjusted to RMB 38,769/ton excluding tax (dry basis, REO=50%), increased by 0.53% month-on-month and increased by 47.95% year-on-year; for each 1% increase or decrease in REO, the tax-exclusive price increases or decreases by RMB 775.38/ton, increased by 0.53% month-on-month and increased by 47.95% year-on-year.
