Rare earth market update on September 24, 2026
This week, the price trends of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products in China showed slight pergence: praseodymium-neodymium prices stabilized first and then rose, while dysprosium-terbium prices moved sideways.
This week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 7,000/ton, up 0.96%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 7,000/ton, up 0.79%.
On the light rare earth market, affected by factors such as the slowing growth rate of China's rare earth mining quotas, strong environmental protection and anti-illegal-mining efforts, and gradually declining ore grades, the production capacity release of some rare earth mining enterprises has slowed down. Coupled with restricted imports of overseas rare earth products, suppliers' awareness of holding back sales and supporting prices has strengthened somewhat, but short-term demand from magnet material enterprises still fell short of expectations.
On the medium and heavy rare earth market, buying and selling activity was relatively light. Affected by weak supply and demand and the absence of major news in the industry, suppliers' quotations remained basically stable. Recently, the prices of gadolinium oxide, erbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide were approximately RMB 206,000/ton, RMB 673,000/ton, and RMB 1,440,000/ton, respectively.
