Rare earth market update on September 28, 2026

The domestic rare earth market as a whole performed steadily. Under a relatively balanced supply-demand relationship, suppliers generally had strong willingness to hold back sales and support prices, downstream users basically maintained rigid demand procurement, and product prices fluctuated within a narrow range.

Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide and terbium oxide were approximately RMB 773,000/ton and RMB 6,630,000/ton, respectively, while the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide and praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton and RMB 8,000/ton, respectively.

On the light rare earth market, against the background of strong production cost support and good development trends in downstream industries, holders generally had low willingness to sell at reduced prices, and product prices stopped falling and rebounded. On the medium and heavy rare earth market, overall operations were under pressure. Affected by downstream demand falling short of expectations and suppliers' low willingness to reduce prices for shipments, market trading was flat and transactions were limited.

In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that from January to August, industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide achieved a total profit of RMB 5,271.98 billion, increased by 15.7% year-on-year. Among them, the mining industry achieved a total profit of RMB 766.15 billion, increased by 35.1% year-on-year; the manufacturing industry achieved a total profit of RMB 3,969.53 billion, increased by 17.4%; and the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry achieved a total profit of RMB 536.30 billion, decreased by 12.0%.
