Rare Earth Market - October 9, 2026

Rare earth market update on October 9, 2026

The domestic rare earth market as a whole performed poorly. With suppliers having low willingness to reduce prices for shipments and downstream users being relatively cautious in procurement, prices of most products showed no significant changes for the time being, market trading activity was relatively light, and new orders were few.

Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, erbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide were approximately RMB 773,000/ton, RMB 673,000/ton, and RMB 1,440,000/ton, respectively.

According to CTIA GROUP, against the background of strong production cost support and the difficulty of increasing spot supply of raw materials, holders generally have strong willingness to hold back sales and support prices. However, due to tight working capital for downstream rare earth enterprises and weak future market expectations among industry participants, short-term market inquiries are relatively few.

In terms of news, recently, the rare earth crystal materials R&D center of the Tianjin Branch of Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earths led the implementation of the "Development of Ultra-Dry Anhydrous Scandium Chloride Preparation Process" project, which achieved a key technical breakthrough and successfully prepared ultra-dry anhydrous scandium chloride products with a water content of less than 50 parts per million. This achievement fills the gap in China's development of high-end scandium-based rare earth functional materials, marking that the Tianjin Branch has fully mastered the synthesis technology of the entire series of rare earth anhydrous halides.
