Rare Earth Market - October 8, 2026

Rare earth market update on October 8, 2026

On the first trading day after the National Day holiday, the domestic rare earth market as a whole maintained stable operation.

Against the background of low willingness of traders to enter the market and the absence of major news in the industry, product prices fluctuated within a narrow range, and the pace of spot circulation was relatively slow. Today, the prices of neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide were approximately RMB 765,000/ton, RMB 6,630,000/ton, and RMB 1,440,000/ton, respectively.

However, from a long-term perspective, rare earth prices are still expected to rise, mainly attributable to the controlled total quotas for rare earth mining and smelting separation in China, declining ore grades, and good development trends in emerging industries.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in September 2026, the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 50.1%, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month. By enterprise size, the PMI for large enterprises was 50.6%, unchanged from the previous month; the PMI for medium and small enterprises was 49.7% and 48.9%, respectively, up 0.3 and 1.0 percentage points from the previous month. By sub-index, the production index was 51.7%, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous month; the new orders index was 50.5%, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month; and the raw material inventory index was 48.2%, up 0.1 percentage points from the previous month.
