Rare earth market update on September 17, 2026
The overall domestic rare earth market was relatively weak, mainly manifested in the downward shift of the price center of gravity of mainstream products to varying degrees, relatively few new orders, and somewhat insufficient confidence among industry participants in the future market.
Today, the price of neodymium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal decreased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, and the price of terbium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 100,000/ton.
According to CTIA GROUP, although the traditional peak season of "Golden September and Silver October" has arrived, which has to some extent increased downstream users' purchasing willingness, the increase in market inquiries is limited. Coupled with strong price-cutting sentiment from downstream, suppliers lack the motivation to raise prices. However, in order to avoid the risk of cost inversion, suppliers have relatively low willingness to make significant concessions.
According to information from the official website of the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, in August 2026, the average sales prices of high-yttrium oxide (rare earth) and medium-yttrium-europium compounds (rare earth) in Ganzhou were RMB 198,000/ton and RMB 187,000/ton, respectively, increased by 1.54% and decreased by 1.58% month-on-month, and decreased by 3.41% and 0.53% year-on-year, respectively. The average sales price of tungsten concentrate in Ganzhou was RMB 420,000/ton, decreased by 6.67% month-on-month, and increased by 116.49% year-on-year.
