Rare Earth Market - September 11, 2026

Rare earth market update on September 11, 2026

This week, the price trends of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products in China showed slight pergence: praseodymium-neodymium prices rose first and then fell, dysprosium-terbium prices were stable but weak, and holmium-erbium prices operated strongly.

Under this market condition, market order increments were relatively few, and industry participants were relatively cautious in their expectations for the future market. On the light rare earth market, at the beginning of the week, supported by costs, suppliers slightly raised their quotations; in the middle of the week and toward the weekend, due to downstream demand falling short of expectations, product prices underwent a rational correction. On the medium and heavy rare earth market, both supply and demand sides performed weakly, with dysprosium-terbium suppliers having a relatively strong willingness to make concessions for orders; while holmium-erbium spot supply was relatively tight, supporting prices to fluctuate upward.

According to CTIA GROUP statistics, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, down 0.68%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal decreased by approximately RMB 4,000/ton, down 0.45%; the prices of terbium oxide and 55N NdFeB blanks showed no significant changes for the time being; the price of dysprosium oxide decreased by RMB 20,000/ton, down 1.37%; and the price of NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) decreased by approximately RMB 2/kg, down 0.71%.

In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in August 2026, affected by factors such as changes in international market prices and seasonal increases in food prices, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) changed from a 0.1% decrease last month to a 0.4% increase month-on-month, and the year-on-year increase rebounded to 0.8%; the core CPI excluding food and energy prices rebounded to a 1.0% year-on-year increase.
