Rare earth market update on September 4, 2026
This week, domestic rare earth prices overall showed a pattern of mixed rises and falls, with relatively small fluctuations, mainly attributable to suppliers' low willingness to make price concessions for shipments and buyers' strong resistance to high-priced sources.
From the supply side, affected by factors such as the high-temperature flood season and strong environmental supervision, the output of some rare earth mining and smelting enterprises has been reduced. Coupled with limited imports of overseas rare earth ores, spot market supply is not very ample. From the demand side, short-term market demand is flat, but long-term demand is expected to recover, mainly attributable to the increased use of rare earth functional materials in downstream new energy, high-end equipment, wind power, and other fields.
According to CTIA GROUP statistics, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, up 0.41%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, up 0.23%; the price of terbium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 40,000/ton, down 0.59%; the price of dysprosium oxide showed no significant changes for the time being; the price of 55N NdFeB blanks increased by approximately RMB 1/kg, up 0.36%; and the price of NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) increased by approximately RMB 5/kg, up 0.66%.
