Rare earth market update on September 8, 2026
Domestic rare earth prices showed localized stability with minor inpidual adjustments, among which the prices of erbium oxide and holmium oxide both increased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton.
According to CTIA GROUP, strong production cost support, restricted production of some rare earth manufacturers, and the current traditional consumption peak season are multiple factors jointly supporting suppliers' confidence in maintaining firm quotations. However, downstream demand fell short of expectations, and actual market transaction volumes were relatively small.
In the short term, relatively ample spot market supply, limited working capital for downstream rare earth production enterprises, and poor transmission of end demand have led to weak downstream demand. In the long term, the rapid development of industries such as new energy vehicles, robotics, wind power, and smart home appliances is expected to drive growth in demand for rare earth functional materials.
In terms of news, China Rare Earth achieved operating revenue of RMB 1.647 billion in the first half of 2026, decreased by 12.19% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company of RMB 237 million, increased by 46.53% year-on-year; and basic earnings per share of RMB 0.22, increased by 46.52% year-on-year. At the end of the reporting period, the company's total assets were RMB 5.956 billion, increased by 3.82% year-on-year; and total equity attributable to shareholders of the parent company was RMB 5.063 billion, increased by 5.33% year-on-year.
