Rare Earth Prices - September 9, 2026

Rare earth market update on September 9, 2026

The overall center of gravity of domestic rare earth prices moved down slightly, among which the price of neodymium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal decreased by approximately RMB 4,000/ton, and the price of dysprosium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 20,000/ton.

Affected by the decline in raw material prices, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap also declined, such as the price of 55N NdFeB blank blocks decreasing by approximately RMB 2/kg.

On the light rare earth market, trading activity was relatively low. Although magnet material enterprises had insufficient willingness to enter the market for procurement, limited mine output and imports of overseas rare earth products, coupled with production cost support, generally left suppliers with small room for concessions.

On the medium and heavy rare earth market, the current prices of dysprosium and terbium are at relatively high levels, coupled with weak future market expectations, resulting in weak enthusiasm for stockpiling among downstream users and a slow transaction pace. It is worth mentioning that holmium and erbium prices maintained a relatively strong operation, mainly attributable to tightening spot market supply.

In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in August 2026, the national producer price index for industrial products increased by 3.8% year-on-year, and the purchasing price index for industrial producers increased by 5.8% year-on-year. Among them, in the producer price index for industrial products, prices in the mining industry increased by 17.8%, the raw material industry increased by 6.7%, and the processing industry increased by 3.1%; in the purchasing price index for industrial producers, prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires increased by 19.8%, fuel and power materials increased by 9.8%, chemical raw materials increased by 9.5%, and ferrous metal materials increased by 0.3%.
