Rare earth market update on August 27, 2026

The domestic rare earth market as a whole showed a general upward trend, among which the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 7,000/ton, the price of terbium oxide increased by approximately RMB 10,000/ton, and the price of dysprosium-iron alloy increased by approximately RMB 40,000/ton.

Driven by the volatile upward trend in raw material prices, the prices of NdFeB blanks and their scrap also rose, such as the price of 52H NdFeB blank blocks increasing by approximately RMB 1/kg.

According to CTIA GROUP, the main reasons for this round of rare earth price increases are: first, the prolonged decline of rare earth prices over the previous period with relatively large declines forced suppliers to increase their profit awareness and avoid the risk of cost-revenue inversion. Second, with the arrival of the traditional consumption peak season, coupled with the current relatively low prices of praseodymium, neodymium, dysprosium, terbium, and other rare earths, downstream users' willingness to inquire and purchase has generally increased.

According to CTIA GROUP’s statistics, since mid-July, the price of praseodymium oxide has decreased by approximately 4.88%, the price of neodymium oxide has decreased by approximately 4.66%, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide has decreased by approximately 5.06%, the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal has decreased by approximately 5.06%, and the price of terbium oxide has decreased by approximately 4.00%.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it will accelerate the development of emerging pillar industries such as integrated circuits, aerospace, biomedicine, low-altitude economy, new energy storage, and intelligent robots, and promote future industries such as quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen energy and nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and 6G to become new economic growth points. Emerging industries are important application fields for rare earth functional materials.
