Rare earth market update on August 28, 2026

This week, domestic rare earth prices showed a volatile upward trend overall, mainly attributable to an increase in downstream demand and strengthened supplier profit awareness.

According to CTIA GROUP, although it is still the traditional consumption off-season, due to factors such as rare earth prices being at relatively low levels and the upcoming "Golden September and Silver October," the enthusiasm for advance stockpiling by downstream rare earth production enterprises has increased. Against the background of strong production cost support and good development prospects for emerging industries, suppliers generally have strong willingness to raise quotations.

According to CTIA GROUP statistics, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 13,000/ton, up 1.81%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 12,000/ton, up 1.38%; the price of terbium oxide increased by approximately RMB 140,000/ton, up 2.11%; the price of dysprosium oxide increased by approximately RMB 60,000/ton, up 4.29%; the price of 55N NdFeB blanks increased by approximately RMB 2/kg, up 0.72%; and the price of NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) increased by approximately RMB 20/kg, up 2.72%.

In terms of news: Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in 2025, China's new economic development momentum index (with 2022 as 100) was 153.0, increased by 12.5% year-on-year. Among them, the transformation and upgrading index was 156.8, increased by 22.7% year-on-year, contributing 34.1% to the total index growth; the innovation-driven index was 156.3, increased by 12.9% year-on-year, contributing 31.4% to the total index growth; the network economy index was 157.8, increased by 10.8% year-on-year, contributing 27.2% to the total index growth; and the economic vitality index was 137.2, increased by 4.8% year-on-year, contributing 7.3% to the total index growth.
