Rare earth market update on August 24, 2026

On Monday, the overall domestic rare earth market was relatively chaotic. Under the influence of many uncertain factors, the mindsets of buyers and sellers differed: buyers had low willingness to enter the market for consumption, while sellers had high willingness to hold back sales and support prices; new orders were limited.

According to CTIA GROUP, affected by factors such as the significant decline in raw material prices in the previous period, relatively high production costs, and good development prospects for downstream rare earth industries, most suppliers tentatively raised their quotations. Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, praseodymium-neodymium metal, and terbium oxide increased by approximately RMB 9,000/ton, RMB 8,000/ton, and RMB 30,000/ton, respectively.

Recently, the oversold rebound in praseodymium-neodymium raw material prices has driven a slight increase in the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap, such as the price of 55N NdFeB blank blocks increasing by approximately RMB 2/kg.

In terms of news: Wind power, home appliances, new energy vehicles, and other industries are all important application fields for rare earth functional materials. From January to June 2026, China's new wind power installed capacity was 38.62 million kilowatts, decreased by 24.85% year-on-year; air conditioner production was 155.647 million units, increased by 0.1% year-on-year; China's new energy vehicle production and sales completed 7.438 million units and 7.446 million units, respectively, increased by 6.7% and 7.3% year-on-year; industrial robot production was 537,700 units, increased by 28% year-on-year.
