Rare earth market update on August 4, 2026

Domestic rare earth prices overall fluctuated within a narrow range, mainly attributable to general downstream demand and limited room for suppliers to make concessions.

Today, the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and dysprosium oxide were approximately RMB 748,000/ton, RMB 213,000/ton, and RMB 1,400,000/ton, respectively.

From the supply side, although downstream demand has been below expectations over the long term, affected by factors such as high energy prices, stricter environmental protection and anti-illegal-mining supervision, frequent high-temperature and rainy weather, and declining ore grades, the output of some rare earth mining and smelting enterprises has decreased, which has largely restrained the growth rate of spot market supply. From the demand side, the current traditional consumption off-season, slow transmission of end demand, generally tight funding for downstream rare earth production enterprises, and the difficulty of significantly increasing short-term rare earth prices are multiple factors jointly resulting in weak market demand.

In terms of news, Shenghe Resources expects that in the first half of 2026, the net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company will be RMB 800 million to RMB 930 million, compared with the same period of the previous year, an increase of RMB 423.0938 million to RMB 553.0938 million, increased by 112.25% to 146.75% year-on-year. The significant performance growth is mainly attributable to the year-on-year price increase of mainstream rare earth products in the first half of the year, the steady release of the company's smelting and separation capacity, and the gradual effectiveness of the overseas rare earth resource layout.
