Rare earth market update on August 11, 2026

The overall domestic rare earth market continued to weaken, mainly manifested in the continued downward shift of the price center of gravity for most products and the slowing down of order growth.

Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, praseodymium-neodymium oxide, and terbium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 10,000/ton, RMB 8,000/ton, and RMB 40,000/ton, respectively.

According to CTIA GROUP, factors such as stricter domestic rare earth mining supervision policies, declining ore grades, and relatively high oil and gas prices have jointly led to a slowdown in the pace of production capacity release by rare earth manufacturers. However, downstream demand falling short of expectations continues to suppress the market, and spot supply is relatively ample. Nevertheless, from a long-term perspective, the rare earth market is expected to improve, mainly due to the difficulty of increasing future praseodymium-neodymium supply and good demand for magnetic materials.

In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in July 2026, the national producer price index for industrial products decreased by 0.7% month-on-month; the purchasing price index for industrial producers decreased by 1.0% month-on-month. From the perspective of month-on-month changes, in the producer price index for industrial products, prices in the mining industry decreased by 0.2%, the raw material industry decreased by 2.4%, and the processing industry decreased by 0.1%; in the purchasing price index for industrial producers, prices of fuel and power materials and chemical raw materials both decreased by 2.6%, non-ferrous metal materials and wires decreased by 1.4%, and ferrous metal materials and textile raw materials both decreased by 0.2%.
