Rare earth market update on August 10, 2026

On Monday, the overall center of gravity of domestic rare earth prices continued to move down slightly, among which the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal decreased by approximately RMB 10,000/ton, the price of terbium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 30,000/ton, and the price of erbium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton.

From the supply side, downstream demand falling short of expectations and relatively high production costs have led to a slowdown in the production pace of some rare earth manufacturers. From the demand side, the current traditional consumption off-season, slow transmission from the end market, and limited working capital for downstream rare earth production enterprises are multiple factors jointly resulting in relatively low market transaction volumes.

In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in July 2026, the national producer price index for industrial products increased by 3.5% year-on-year and decreased by 0.7% month-on-month; the purchasing price index for industrial producers increased by 5.5% year-on-year and decreased by 1.0% month-on-month. From the perspective of year-on-year changes, in the producer price index for industrial products, prices in the mining industry increased by 16.4%, the raw material industry increased by 6.1%, and the processing industry increased by 3.1%; in the purchasing price index for industrial producers, prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires increased by 19.0%, fuel and power materials and chemical raw materials both increased by 9.3%, and ferrous metal materials increased by 1.4%.
