Rare earth market update on July 24, 2026

The domestic rare earth market as a whole showed a general downward trend, with the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and holmium oxide decreasing by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, RMB 7,000/ton, and RMB 10,000/ton, respectively.

Against this backdrop, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap also declined, with the prices of 55N NdFeB blank blocks and NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) decreasing by approximately RMB 1/kg and RMB 5/kg, respectively.

From the perspective of bullish factors, factors such as slow growth in spot market supply, strong production cost support, and good development trends in downstream rare earth industries jointly support suppliers' confidence in maintaining firm quotations. From the perspective of bearish factors, insufficient consumption capacity of downstream rare earth production enterprises and generally tight working capital among many raw material suppliers both constrain the upward room for product prices.

In terms of news, the Fujian Provincial Department of Natural Resources and nine other departments jointly issued the "Special Action Plan for Further Combating Illegal and Unauthorized Mining," which clearly states: it is necessary to continuously promote the investigation, sealing, and rectification of abandoned mine caves, and implement permanent sealing measures for all abandoned mine caves; it is necessary to focus on illegal and unauthorized mining of mineral resources such as rare earths, tungsten, molybdenum, gold, and fluorite, as well as mine boundary crossing, to severely crack down on various illegal and unauthorized mining activities, investigate and deal with the illegal disposal of surplus sand and stone from construction projects, and maintain order in mineral resource mining; it is necessary to improve and perfect the mineral resource supervision work system, form a normal and long-term management mechanism, and serve high-quality economic development.
