Rare earth market update on July 23, 2026

The domestic rare earth market showed localized stability with minor inpidual adjustments, among which the price of praseodymium oxide remained stable at approximately RMB 815,000/ton for the time being, the price of erbium oxide increased by approximately RMB 15,000/ton, and the price of holmium oxide increased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton.

Under this market condition, trading activity was relatively light, new orders were limited, and industry participants' confidence in the future market was somewhat insufficient.

From the supply side, affected by factors such as persistently weak downstream demand, high energy prices, frequent extreme weather, and unabated efforts in environmental protection and anti-illegal-mining campaigns, some rare earth mining and smelting enterprises actively slowed down their production pace. Coupled with relatively low recycling production from scrap and limited imports of overseas rare earth products, the increase in spot market supply was further constrained. Tight overseas rare earth supply with relatively high prices, together with generally tight funding among domestic buyers, jointly made it difficult for China's rare earth product imports to increase.

From the demand side, affected by factors such as a relatively high proportion of long-term contract orders, limited working capital for downstream rare earth production enterprises, and difficulty in significantly raising short-term market prices, market inquiries were relatively few and transactions were limited. However, from a long-term perspective, with the continuous development of high-growth sectors such as new energy vehicles, energy storage equipment, computing power data centers, and robotics, the demand for rare earth functional materials such as permanent magnet materials is expected to increase, thereby driving rare earth prices upward.
