Rare earth market update on June 25, 2026

The overall domestic rare earth market is filled with a strong atmosphere of holding back sales and bullish sentiment, mainly driven by the resonance of three logics: policy, supply, and demand. Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and holmium oxide are approximately RMB 820,000/ton, RMB 230,000/ton, and RMB 567,000/ton, respectively.

From the supply side: first, affected by factors such as above-average high-temperature and rainy weather recently, stricter environmental protection and crackdown on illegal mining policies, and declining mine grades, some rare earth mining and smelting enterprises have reduced their production; second, Vietnam's ban on the export of rare earth raw materials and the obstruction of imports from Myanmar mines have, to a certain extent, hindered the increase in China's import volume of rare earth products. On December 11, 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed legislation banning the export of rare earth raw materials. Vietnam's amendment to the Geological and Mineral Law this time strengthened the control of mineral deposits and established new rules for the industry.

From the demand side: first, some downstream production enterprises currently have relatively low spot inventory levels. In order to maintain normal operation, the market inquiry activity is relatively good. Second, emerging fields such as AI servers, MLCC (multilayer ceramic capacitors), and humanoid robots consume more medium and heavy rare earths such as dysprosium and terbium. Coupled with the sustained high prosperity of demand in industries such as new energy vehicles and wind power, downstream restocking demand has been released in a concentrated manner.
