Microwave decomposition of solid crystalline ammonium paratungstate (APT) and ammonium metatungstate (AMT) was investigated. It was observed that APT and AMT interact with 2.45-GHz microwave radiation. Samples of ammonium paratungstate (20-50 g) were successfully converted into WO3-x (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2). A wide variety of morphological parameters were found. The interaction of AMT with the 2.45-GHz microwave radiation resulted in the partial loss of crystalline water and the partial dissolution of the sample in the released water.

Ammonium paratungstate was prepared from tungsten alloy swarf employing anodic dissolution in sodium hydroxide using a packed bed configuration followed by chemical conversion into ammonium tungstate through tungstic acid. The alkaline tungstate solution was dialysed to recover sodium hydroxide, which could be recycled to the electrolytic dissolution. The influence of anodic current density and other parameters on dissolution/recovery was studied and discussed. It was observed that a current density of 600 mA/100 g scrap could be applied when the concentration of NaOH was maintained around 2.5 M. The energy consumption for anodic dissolution was 2.14 kWh/kg W with more than 90% recovery achieved. XRD studies indicated that the exhausted scrap contained an alloy of nickel and iron with a very low percentage of tungsten. APT sample prepared through anodic dissolution in NaOH was characterized.

The object is for a player to hit each number and the bulls eye three times. Doubles count as two hits and triples as three. The first player to hit a number three times owns that number and it is said to be opened. Further hits on the opened number score that number of points (e.g. triple 20 gains 60 points) until the opponent also hits that number three times and closes it, then that number is removed from play. The double ring scores double the number's value and the treble (inner) ring scores triple the number's value. The outer bulls eye ring is worth 25 points and the inner circle (or double bull) is worth 50. Once a player has opened or closed all the required numbers and bull and has equal or more points than his opponent, that player wins. Also, if a player scores and does not record it before the next player goes, that score does not count.

Alternatively, cut-throat style scoring can be used, in which case points are undesirable; hitting a number that is opened results in points being given to any other players who do not have that number closed, and the lowest score wins.

The holding pole includes a hollow for holding one end of the target board, a slit formed along the entire length of the holding pole to pass through the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the holding pole, and holes for allowing a hanging string to be fastened to the holding pole. The two closure members are each provided with an inserting recess into which one end of the holding pole is inserted.
