Rare Earth Market - September 22, 2026

Rare earth market update on September 22, 2026

The domestic rare earth market as a whole maintained stable operation. Against the background of low willingness of suppliers to reduce prices for shipments and insufficient consumption capacity of buyers, product prices basically fluctuated within a narrow range, actual transaction pace was slow, and industry participants were slightly concerned about the future market.

Currently, the price of neodymium oxide was approximately RMB 765,000/ton, the price of gadolinium oxide was approximately RMB 206,000/ton, and the price of erbium oxide was approximately RMB 673,000/ton.

From the supply side, although downstream demand has weakened somewhat, affected by relatively high energy prices, high mining difficulty, and declining ore grades, the production capacity release of some rare earth manufacturers has slowed down. Coupled with restricted imports of overseas rare earth products, spot market supply has become tighter. From the demand side, in the short term, some downstream users have completed their phased procurement plans, and market activity is relatively low; however, in the long term, with the development of high-end manufacturing, there is room for growth in rare earth demand.

With raw material prices moving sideways recently, the prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials and their scrap showed no significant changes for the time being, among which the price of 52M NdFeB blank blocks was approximately RMB 284/kg, and the price of waste NdFeB (dysprosium) was approximately RMB 1,280/kg.
