Rare Earth Prices - September 20, 2026

Rare earth market update on September 20, 2026

The overall center of gravity of domestic rare earth prices showed no significant changes, with the quotations for praseodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and dysprosium oxide at around RMB 767,000/ton, RMB 206,000/ton, and RMB 1,440,000/ton, respectively.

From the supply side, affected by factors such as limited spot market increments, relatively high production costs, and good development trends in downstream rare earth industries, the supply of low-priced sources in the market was relatively tight. From the demand side, with the approach of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, downstream users' stockpiling willingness increased somewhat, but actual transaction increments were limited, making price increases difficult.

In terms of news, data from the National Energy Administration shows that as of the end of July 2026, China's cumulative installed power generation capacity was 4.08 billion kilowatts, increased by 11.0% year-on-year. Among them, wind power installed capacity was 690 million kilowatts, increased by 19.5% year-on-year; solar power installed capacity was 1.29 billion kilowatts, increased by 16.1% year-on-year. Wind power generation is one of the important application fields of rare earth permanent magnet materials.
