Rare earth market update on July 29, 2026
The overall domestic rare earth market showed a pattern of mixed rises and falls, among which the prices of praseodymium-neodymium oxide and praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton and RMB 10,000/ton, respectively, while the prices of gadolinium oxide and holmium oxide decreased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton and RMB 10,000/ton, respectively.
Under this market condition, trading activity was relatively low, actual transaction volumes were limited, and industry participants' confidence in the future market was somewhat insufficient.
According to CTIA GROUP, the current traditional consumption off-season, slow transmission of end demand, relatively ample spot supply of raw materials, and difficulty in significantly raising short-term raw material prices are multiple factors jointly leading to weak downstream demand. However, due to strong production cost support, good development prospects for downstream rare earth industries, and limited future new rare earth supply, suppliers have low willingness to reduce prices for shipments.
In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that from January to June 2026, the mining industry achieved a total profit of RMB 574.50 billion, increased by 33.5% year-on-year; the manufacturing industry achieved a total profit of RMB 2,971.21 billion, increased by 20.1%; and the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry achieved a total profit of RMB 402.27 billion, decreased by 4.2%.
