Rare earth market update on July 17, 2026
This week, the overall domestic rare earth market showed a pattern of mixed rises and falls, with product prices basically fluctuating within a narrow range, actual trading atmosphere relatively light, and transaction volumes relatively small, mainly due to suppliers' low willingness to reduce prices for shipments and insufficient purchasing power from buyers.
According to CTIA GROUP, affected by factors such as weak downstream demand and relatively high production costs, the production pace of some rare earth manufacturers has slowed down. Coupled with China's imports of rare earth products remaining at relatively low levels, spot market supply has further tightened, which provides strong support for holders' confidence in holding back sales and maintaining prices. From January to June 2026, China's cumulative rare earth imports were 53,886.6 tons, decreased by 6.1% year-on-year; among which, rare earth imports in June were 6,261.5 tons, decreased by 7.51% month-on-month and decreased by 46.48% year-on-year.
According to CTIA GROUP statistics, this week, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 8,000/ton, up 1.05%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 7,000/ton, up 0.75%; the price of terbium oxide increased by approximately RMB 100,000/ton, up 1.47%; the price of dysprosium oxide increased by approximately RMB 10,000/ton, up 0.70%; the price of 55N NdFeB blank decreased by approximately RMB 1/kg, down 0.35%; the price of NdFeB scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) increased by approximately RMB 5/kg, up 0.64%.
In terms of news, in the first half of 2026, the added value of high-tech manufacturing industries above designated size increased by 13.3% year-on-year, with the growth rate accelerating by 0.8 percentage points compared with the first quarter. By industry, the added value of integrated circuit manufacturing, electronic specialty material manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing, and other industries increased by 67.3%, 31.0%, and 26.7%, respectively. By product, the rapid development of "artificial intelligence+" drove the output of integrated circuits, optical fibers, electronic components, and other products to increase by 23.1%, 19.2%, and 13.0%, respectively; new economic growth points such as embodied intelligence and human-machine collaboration helped the output of robot reducers, industrial robots, service robots, and other products to increase by 57.3%, 28.0%, and 11.9%, respectively.
