Rare earth market update on July 14, 2026
The overall domestic rare earth market performed generally. Under the interplay of multiple bullish and bearish factors, the negotiation atmosphere between buyers and sellers was slightly strained, product prices fluctuated within a reasonable range, trading activity in the market was relatively low, and spot transactions were limited.
Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide were approximately RMB 820,000/ton, RMB 7,000,000/ton, and RMB 1,430,000/ton, respectively.
From the perspective of bullish factors, first, affected by the limited production increase of domestic rare earth manufacturers and the small import volume of rare earth products into China, the supply of some raw materials in the market was relatively tight, supporting suppliers' confidence in maintaining prices to a certain extent. Second, overseas rare earth prices remain at relatively high levels and the downstream rare earth industry has good development prospects, which is conducive to the warming of the domestic market. From the perspective of bearish factors, under the conditions of tight funding and difficulty in significantly raising product prices in the short term, downstream consumers have low willingness to enter the market for purchases, basically purchasing on demand.
In terms of news, according to customs statistics, in the first half of 2026, China's total imports and exports of goods trade were RMB 25.47 trillion, increased by 16.9% year-on-year; among which, exports were RMB 14.73 trillion, increased by 13.4%, and imports were RMB 10.74 trillion, increased by 22.1%. From the export perspective, in the first half of the year, China's exports of mechanical and electronic products were RMB 9.36 trillion, increased by 20.1%, accounting for 63.5% of the total export value; exports of high-tech products were RMB 3.26 trillion, increased by 39%. From the import perspective, in the first half of the year, China's import growth rate was 8.7 percentage points higher than the export growth rate, promoting balanced development of imports and exports; among which, bulk commodities such as energy and mechanical and electronic products increased by 3.4% and 28%, respectively.
