Rare Earth Market - July 3, 2026

Rare earth market update on July 3, 2026

This week, the price trends of mainstream light and heavy rare earth products in China were slightly differentiated, among which praseodymium-neodymium prices showed volatile increases, while dysprosium-terbium prices operated steadily.

In the light rare earth market, the reduction in spot market supply in June and the relatively strong restocking willingness of magnet material enterprises led suppliers to generally have a high willingness to hold back goods and raise prices, with quotations increasing slightly. In the medium and heavy rare earth market, against the background of a relatively balanced supply and demand pattern, product prices showed no significant fluctuations for the time being. However, in the long term, China's implementation of export controls on some medium and heavy rare earth products and the good development trend of emerging industries indicate that the medium and heavy rare earth market is still expected to recover in the future.

According to statistics from CTIA GROUP, this week the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide increased by approximately RMB 20,000/ton, an increase of 2.74%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal increased by approximately RMB 10,000/ton, an increase of 1.10%; the prices of terbium oxide, dysprosium oxide, and 55N neodymium-iron-boron rough blank showed no significant fluctuations for the time being; and the price of neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) increased by approximately RMB 10/ton, an increase of 1.32%.

In terms of news, from January to May 2026, China produced 12.24 million vehicles, decreased by 4.6% year-on-year. Among them, passenger vehicle production was 10.35 million units, decreased by 6.6% year-on-year; commercial vehicle production was 1.89 million units, increased by 8.0% year-on-year. New energy vehicle production increased by 2.5% year-on-year, with sales accounting for 56.9% of the total. Vehicle exports were 4.06 million units, increased by 63.0% year-on-year. In May, vehicle production was 2.62 million units, decreased by 1.2% year-on-year, increased by 1.6% month-on-month. Passenger vehicle production decreased year-on-year but increased month-on-month, while commercial vehicle production increased year-on-year but decreased month-on-month. Vehicle exports were 930,000 units, increased by 68.7% year-on-year, with the growth rate slightly narrowing compared to April.
