Rare earth market update on July 1, 2026

The overall domestic rare earth market maintained a sideways operation, with the prices of praseodymium oxide, holmium oxide, and gadolinium oxide at approximately RMB 805,000/ton, RMB 565,000/ton, and RMB 225,000/ton, respectively.

This was mainly due to downstream users basically making purchases on demand and holders lacking the strength to raise prices. The factors restricting suppliers from raising quotations included: first, downstream demand fell short of expectations, with fewer spot transactions, and most enterprises purchased as needed, making it difficult to form concentrated restocking; second, market supply was relatively sufficient, with some suppliers having a relatively strong willingness to ship; third, the market wait-and-see sentiment was strong, with intense price negotiations between buyers and sellers, and merchants becoming more cautious in their price adjustment operations.

In terms of news, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that in June 2026, the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 50.3%, increased by 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, returning to the expansion range. By enterprise size, the PMI for large enterprises was 50.7%, decreased by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month; the PMI for medium-sized enterprises was 50.5%, increased by 1.9 percentage points from the previous month; the PMI for small enterprises was 48.2%, decreased by 0.3 percentage points from the previous month. By sub-index, the production index was 51.4%, increased by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month; the new orders index was 51.2%, increased by 1.3 percentage points from the previous month; the raw materials inventory index was 48.4%, decreased by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month.
