Rare earth market update on February 5, 2026

The domestic rare earth market overall showed a general upward trend, with neodymium oxide, praseodymium-neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and holmium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 10,000/ton, RMB 4,000/ton, RMB 20,000/ton, and RMB 15,000/ton respectively.

Under this market condition, industry players are primarily focusing on the follow-up situation of downstream demand.

From the bullish factors perspective, first, affected by the continued tight spot supply of mainstream light rare earth products, strong production cost support, and the increasingly prominent status of strategic metals, traders generally held strong speculative bullish sentiment; second, the rapid development of emerging industries such as new energy and robotics has to a certain extent driven demand for rare earth functional materials, further enhancing market confidence.

From the bearish factors perspective, first, the obvious price increases in praseodymium-neodymium over the past few weeks have led to reduced procurement willingness among magnetic material enterprises; second, tight funding for some magnetic enterprises has further suppressed procurement enthusiasm, making it difficult to further amplify transaction volume in the light rare earth market; third, relatively loose supply in the medium and heavy rare earth market combined with low downstream inquiries has made upward movement in terbium-dysprosium prices face greater resistance.

According to CTIA GROUP LTD statistics, since late January, praseodymium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 130,000/ton, up 19.17%; neodymium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 130,000/ton, up 19.26%; praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 72,000/ton, up 10.67%; praseodymium-neodymium metal prices increased by approximately RMB 90,000/ton, up 10.98%.
