Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
On Monday, the tungsten market showed signs of stabilizing, with a growing inclination to support prices.
Increased procurement activity for smelted products has bolstered the sentiment among holders that the market is bottoming out and poised for a rebound. In the tungsten powder segment, a wait-and-see approach prevails as participants await further signals from both the cost side and the demand side. The availability of low-priced tungsten raw materials has diminished, though overall liquidity throughout the industry chain still requires improvement.
The price of 65% wolframite concentrate remains stagnant at approximately RMB 300,000/standard ton. Following a sharp decline during the first half of the month, there is a stronger desire for market stabilization, and the tendency to sell at low prices has gradually subsided.
Ammonium paratungstate (APT) is currently priced at around RMB 460,000/ton. Recent large-scale procurement by major enterprises has signaled a push to support prices. Consequently, smelters have become more reluctant to sell, seeking higher price points, which has shifted market negotiations upward.
Tungsten powder is priced at RMB 700-730/kg, while tungsten carbide powder is trading at approximately RMB 670,000-700,000/kg. Although inquiries within the powder metallurgy sector have increased, actual procurement remains limited to essential, immediate needs, reflecting a cautious stance as participants await further developments across the industry chain this week.
The price of 70% ferrotungsten remains stable at around RMB 500,000/ton. Confidence in the upstream tungsten ore market has yet to fully recover. Downstream steel mills, facing profit margins squeezed by both rising costs and soft demand, show limited enthusiasm for procurement. The ferrotungsten market remains cautious in the short term, with quiet trading activity.
In the tungsten waste and scrap market, sentiment has improved following news of procurement activity for virgin raw materials, leading to price increases in some areas. However, overall liquidity in the industry chain remains weak, with trading primarily consisting of small-volume transactions.
