Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online

Tungsten raw material prices overall remained temporarily stable, with a strong wait-and-see atmosphere in the market and a stalemate in the upstream-downstream game. 

Suppliers, supported by costs and constrained by compliant production capacity, still showed willingness to hold firm; buyers lacked confidence for proactive procurement and mostly refrained from actively building inventory. Transactions were primarily conducted on a case-by-case or back-to-back basis to hedge against price volatility and default risks. Liquidity across the tungsten industry chain remained sluggish, with thin trading. In the near term, attention will focus on the performance of the new round of long-term contract purchase prices from listed tungsten companies.

The mainstream negotiated range for ≥55% tungsten concentrate stood at RMB 400,000-410,000/standard ton. Compliant circulating resources continued to be restricted by policy and sentiment factors, leaving limited room for price concessions. Ammonium paratungstate (APT) prices were around RMB 580,000-590,000/ton, with very few spot deals released. Smelters faced the risk of cost inversion and destocking pressure, with some reducing operating rates. Tungsten powder was quoted at approximately RMB 870-900/kg and tungsten carbide powder at about RMB 830-860/kg. Downstream inquiry and comparative purchasing increased, putting relative pressure on the overall bargaining.

The scrap tungsten recycling segment currently leans toward a buyer’s market and is in a relatively weak cycle. Affected by insufficient demand release and the pressured atmosphere of primary materials, market confidence in taking delivery has weakened. Sellers’ reluctance to sell at low prices coexists with some willingness to make concessions for cash realization, hindering overall transaction volume expansion.
