Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
This week, the domestic tungsten market stabilized after an initial decline and showed signs of a slight rebound.
Following a release of downward price pressure, inquiry and transaction activity at lower price levels picked up. However, trading remains driven primarily by essential demand, and market liquidity is limited. Participants across the supply chain generally maintain a cautious "wait-and-see" stance, and the momentum and sustainability of the market rebound require further confirmation.
According to research by China Tungsten Online, the primary bearish factor stems from insufficient buying interest on the demand side. Downstream purchasing is largely driven by immediate needs; buyers are keen to negotiate prices and show limited acceptance of higher-priced material. Additionally, a temporary accumulation of raw material inventories has intensified short-term pressure on the supply side. Market support is derived mainly from supply-side constraints and sentiment. Stricter compliance requirements for raw material mining and trading have effectively curbed the disorderly expansion of production capacity. Meanwhile, expectations of a premium based on the material's status as a strategic resource—combined with the reluctance of holders to sell due to high holding costs—have resulted in a cautious approach to increasing supply. Overall, the tungsten market remains in a tug-of-war between supply and demand, and the foundation for a price rebound needs consolidation. Attention should be paid to news regarding inventory restocking and the pricing of long-term contracts by tungsten enterprises.
In the tungsten concentrate market, price negotiations found support around the RMB 400,000/ton mark. Holders showed less willingness to sell at low prices, and downward pressure was initially contained, though spot market transactions remained sluggish.
65% wolframite concentrate price: RMB 410,000/ton, down 5.8% week-on-week and 10.9% year to date.
65% scheelite concentrate price: RMB 409,000/ton, down 5.8% week-on-week and 10.9% year to date.
In the ammonium paratungstate (APT) market, driven by the stabilization of raw material prices and the determination of some holders to maintain price levels, offer prices shifted upward to above 600,000/ton. However, demand-side buying remained cautious, and transaction volumes have not yet seen a significant increase.
Domestic APT price: RMB 610,000/ton, down 3.2% week-on-week and 9.0% year to date.
European APT price: USD 3,000-3,265/mtu (equivalent to RMB 1.799-1.958 million/ton), remaining flat week-on-week and up 240.5% year to date.
In the tungsten powder market, low-priced offers have decreased significantly following signals that upstream prices are bottoming out. Hard alloy manufacturers and downstream end-users remain cautious, with transaction volumes limited to essential demand.
Tungsten powder price: RMB 975/kg, down 2.5% week-on-week and 9.7% year to date.
Tungsten carbide powder price: RMB 925/kg, down 2.6% week-on-week and 11.1% year to date.

In the tungsten waste and scrap market, the stabilization of raw material prices has boosted confidence in the recycling sector. Market activity has picked up, and price negotiations have shifted upward. However, transaction volumes remain constrained by holders anticipating further price increases and caution on the consumption side.
Scrap tungsten carbide rod price: RMB 735/kg, down 1.5% week-on-week but up 8.1% year to date.
