Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
Domestic tungsten prices faced overall downward pressure this week, with both supply concessions and restocking demand showing some release. Market inquiries increased, but actual transactions remained primarily driven by long-term contracts and small-batch, immediate needs. Market confidence in a bottoming-out process remains divided, and traders across the industry chain generally maintained a cautious wait-and-see attitude.
In the tungsten concentrate market, supply has long been constrained by resource bottlenecks and policy controls, while in the short term, weak demand and relatively ample inventory have put pressure on overall market negotiations.
65% wolframite concentrate price: RMB 435,000/ton, down 7.5% week-on-week and 5.4% year-on-year.
65% scheelite concentrate price: RMB 434,000/ton, down 7.5% week-on-week and 5.5% year-on-year.
In the ammonium paratungstate (APT) market, influenced by easing upstream costs and cautious downstream purchasing, spot transactions were conducted on an as-needed basis, resulting in increased room for negotiation.
Domestic APT price: RMB 630,000/ton, down 10.0% week-on-week and down 6.0% year-on-year.
European APT price: USD 3,000-3,265/ton (equivalent to RMB 1.802-1.961 million/ton), up 1.9% week-on-week and up 240.5% year-on-year.
In the tungsten powder market, the off-season demand coupled with marginal inventory accumulation poses a significant challenge to prices at the RMB 1 million/ton mark. Investors are watching for support from the cost floor and signals of restocking driven by immediate demand.
Tungsten powder price: RMB 1,000/kg, down 9.1% week-on-week and down 7.4% year-on-year.
Tungsten carbide powder price: RMB 950/kg, down 9.5% week-on-week and down 8.7% year-on-year.
Cobalt powder price: RMB 490/kg, down 2.0% from its year-to-date high and down 5.8% year-on-year.
In the ferrotungsten market, prices continued to follow market trends, with easing costs and cautious demand resulting in a narrow, slightly weak fluctuation.
70% ferrotungsten price: RMB 690,000/ton, down 5.5% week-on-week but up 6.2% year-to-date.
European ferrotungsten price: USD 200-215/kg W (equivalent to RMB 974,000-1,045,000/ton), down 2.4% week-on-week but up 50.9% year-to-date.
In the tungsten waste and scrap market, weakening raw material prices pressured the recycling market, but holders were reluctant to sell at low prices, leading to a continued stalemate in negotiations between buyers and sellers.
Scrap tungsten carbide rod price: RMB 746/kg, down 3.1% week-on-week but up 9.7% year-to-date.
