Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
Tungsten prices remain under pressure amidst generally weak consumption; market trading is at a stalemate, with bargaining power leaning toward buyers. While the supply side faces pressure to lower prices, caution prevails regarding quotes and shipments due to resource conservation and cost considerations.
Current downward pressure on demand stems from factors such as raw material costs, market sentiment, seasonality, and the macroeconomic environment. On one hand, cost pressures—including raw material procurement costs and a declining ratio of alloy residual value to acquisition cost—have significantly raised actual usage costs, dampening end-user willingness to purchase. On the other hand, market sentiment plays a role; amidst a sustained price downtrend, downstream players and traders are lowering inventory levels and delaying purchases to mitigate risk, thereby suppressing trading activity. Additionally, seasonal factors and the macroeconomic and political climate are influencing both current demand and future market outlooks.
Despite weak demand, tungsten prices have not plummeted, primarily due to the resilience of the supply side. As a critical strategic resource, tungsten is subject to production controls; combined with stricter environmental and safety regulations and declining ore grades, supply elasticity is limited. Consequently, miners remain cautious about price concessions and show no immediate intention of large-scale sell-offs. However, limited orders mean buyers are unwilling to accept high-priced raw materials. This psychological tug-of-war in the market exacerbates the current sluggish trading environment.
