Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
This week, overall tungsten prices exhibited a mild downward correction trend. The market's turning point was first triggered in the tungsten scrap sector; driven by a contagion effect involving panic selling and price pullbacks, negative market sentiment spread rapidly. Subsequently, a major tungsten enterprise released a new round of long-term contract quotes that were slightly lower than the previous market stalemate levels. This signaled a correction in the raw material segment, placing the entire tungsten market under pressure.
In contrast, the market for raw tungsten materials demonstrated greater resilience against price declines. Benefiting from the scarcity of tungsten ore resources—and the long-term value expectations associated with its status as a strategic metal—market participants maintained a firm stance regarding price floors for raw materials. Consequently, the pace of price adjustment in this segment remained relatively cautious and orderly.
The tungsten scrap market, however, experienced more pronounced volatility. Due to the high sensitivity of retail investors' sentiment, some holders with profitable positions accelerated their exit from the market. This further amplified market panic, leading to localized instances of "stampede-style" price cutting to offload inventory. Nevertheless, major holders who had entered the market at previous price peaks were reluctant to realize losses; this intensified market friction significantly and widened the psychological price gap between buyers and sellers. Currently, the tungsten scrap sector is characterized by a coexistence of aggressive price-cutting by buyers seeking to acquire stock and inventory hoarding by sellers waiting for prices to rise. Actual transactions remain predominantly small-batch and exploratory in nature, as market participants operate cautiously based on their individual capital positions and risk tolerance.
Chinatungsten Online believes that tungsten prices will continue to face some downward pressure in the short term. This is primarily because the high-cost pressures accumulated during the previous rapid price surge require time to be gradually transmitted and absorbed. Additionally, market sentiment regarding profit-taking still requires further stabilization. Until new directional signals emerge from either the supply-and-demand fundamentals or the macroeconomic landscape, overall tungsten prices are expected to maintain a cautious, slightly bearish trajectory.
