Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
Despite the sharp drop in the precious metals market, the tungsten market continues its upward trend, with prices repeatedly hitting new highs. According to Chinatungsten Online, as of press time, tungsten concentrate reached RMB 620,000/ton, ammonium paratungstate reached RMB 920,000/ton, and tungsten powder reached RMB 1.5 million/ton!
Entering the final two trading weeks before the Spring Festival, domestic tungsten industry chain manufacturers will gradually enter their holiday break, and production and trading activities are expected to slow down, with the overall market atmosphere becoming more cautious and wait-and-see. Currently, traders holding inventory are quite conflicted. On the one hand, high costs and tight spot supply support their willingness to maintain prices; on the other hand, the increased demand for pre-holiday capital repatriation and concerns about the continuation of post-holiday market trends, coupled with uncertainties in the international political and economic situation, have led some holders to hesitate between selling at high prices and continuing to hoard. The massive volatility in the precious metals market has exacerbated this contradiction.
Last Friday, the precious metals market experienced a Black Friday, with international gold prices plummeting by over 11% in a single day; silver prices plunged 31.37%, marking the largest single-day drop since March 1980. The volatility was primarily attributed to: the uncertainty surrounding monetary policy brought about by the appointment of the new Federal Reserve Chairman, profit-taking triggered by the significant gains in precious metal prices since last year, and a chain reaction of selling triggered by market panic.
