Tungsten Waste and Scrap Market Sees Profit-Taking - December 25, 2025

Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online

Tungsten prices are currently showing a stable sideways trend. With the New Year approaching, financial pressures are increasing, leading to a decrease in market activity.

Against this backdrop, profit-taking among suppliers has increased, with the scrap tungsten market experiencing panic selling first, while the virgin tungsten market remains largely cautious. Intermediate traders and downstream users are hesitant, worried about both persistently high raw material costs and potential market corrections, thus exhibiting a predominantly cautious risk-averse attitude.

In the tungsten concentrate market, holders' bullish expectations remain firm. Although some profit-taking has occurred, prices have not softened, and the overall market remains stable.

65% wolframite concentrate is priced at RMB 462,000/ton, an increase of 223.1% since the beginning of the year.

65% scheelite concentrate is priced at RMB 461,000/ton, up 224.7% from the beginning of the year.

In the ammonium paratungstate (APT) market, plant operating rates are constrained by factors such as costs, environmental protection, and maintenance, maintaining a tight supply-demand balance. Prices are running at high levels along with upstream mining prices.

Domestic APT prices are priced at RMB 680,000/ton, up 222.3% from the beginning of the year.

European APT prices are priced at USD 825-900/mtu (equivalent to RMB 513,000-560,000/ton), up 161.4% from the beginning of the year.

In the tungsten powder market, high costs are suppressing the fulfillment of some orders. Both buyers and sellers are adopting a cautious wait-and-see approach in the short term, resulting in sluggish market activity.

Tungsten powder is priced at RMB 1,080/kg, up 241.8% from the beginning of the year.

Tungsten carbide powder is priced at RMB 1,040/kg, up 234.4% from the beginning of the year.

Cobalt powder is priced at RMB 515/kg, up 202.9% from the beginning of the year.

In the ferrotungsten market, raw material shortages and high production costs supported prices, but limited demand from steel mills led to sluggish market transactions.

70% ferrotungsten is priced at RMB 655,000/ton, up 204.7% from the beginning of the year.

European ferrotungsten is priced at USD 119-127/kg W (equivalent to RMB 585,000-625,000/ton), up 179.6% from the beginning of the year.

In the tungsten waste and scrap market, panic caused by profit-taking gradually spread, with some recyclers starting to lower prices or suspend purchases, leading to some market disorder.

Scrap tungsten rods are priced at RMB 650/kg, up 195.5% from the beginning of the year.

Scrap tungsten drill bits are priced at RMB 620/kg, up 171.9% from the beginning of the year.
