Tungsten, also known as wolfram, is a chemical element with the chemical symbol W and atomic number 74. Tungsten is as known the heaviest materials except gold of the nature resources, for the density of tungsten is 19.25g•cm3(near r.t.). For the same reason, tungsten related products, alloys, other elements doped and carbides have the special characteristics as pure tungsten, then it always named heavy stone.

How is tungsten used? Tungsten alloys are good conductors of electricity, and used primarily to increase the toughness and strength of steel. The most common tungsten product, cemented tungsten carbide, is used to make grinding wheels and cutting or forming tools. Tungsten powder is used as a lead replacement in bullets. However, firing of a tungsten/nylon bullet introduces tungsten and other projectile related metals into the environment.

Tungsten, a silver-gray metal, is mined from scheelite and wolframite and appears in nature in four major forms combined with calcium, iron or manganese. Most current mine production of tungsten is from vein/stockwork, skarn, porphyry and strata-bound deposits. Minor amounts are produced from pegmatite, breccia and placer deposits. It has a high melting point and density, good thermal and electrical conductivity, a low coefficient of expansion as well as exceptional strength at elevated temperatures. It is consumed predominantly as tungsten carbide in cutting and wear-resistant components as well as an alloying agent in steel making. Also, often as an alloy, it is used for lamp and lighting filaments and electrodes, electrical and electronic contact surfaces, heat and radiation shielding in high-temperature furnaces and X-ray equipment, and electrodes in certain welding methods. Some non-metallurgical applications of tungsten are as phosphorescent chemicals in pigments, X-ray screens, television picture tubes and fluorescent lighting. Tungsten is also used in armor-piercing ordnance and tank shielding. The name tungsten comes from the Norse word thungr-steinn, which means "heavy stone."

Tungsten fishing sinkers are weight used in conjunction with a fishing lure or hook to increase its rate of sink, anchoring ability, and casting distance. Fishing sinkers have two-fold function, first getting the bait rig where you want but should keep it there.

Different tungsten fishing sinkers have different weights. Step four: Finish tungsten rod producing by hammering, straightening and grinding.
