In the last century, this kind of light was widely used in infrared detectors, semiconductor lasers and other devices. To the beginning of the 21st century, the largest conversion of luminescent materials used by people found that laser anti-counterfeiting infrared and infrared laser detection, also known as infrared conversion logo, belong to one of the top ten anti-counterfeiting technology, the RMB security has this kind of technology.

Rare earth-like Yb3+, Er3+ and many other elements have the properties of upconversion luminescence, tungstate as a typical self-luminescent material, has a stable physical and chemical properties, is the ideal conversion of rare earth elements matrix material. Therefore, many infrared laser instruments are rare earth tungstate as the main raw material.

Rare earth salt calcium tungstate preparation methods including co precipitation method, hydrothermal / solvothermal process, high temperature solid phase method. Among them, hydrothermal / solvothermal synthesis of rare earth ion tungstate has many advantages, such as low reaction temperature, relatively pure product, neat morphology, easy control and uniform particle size.

Some scholars believe that rare earth tungstate phosphors excited by 980nm and 1550nm, Er3+ and Tm3+, are ideal green upconversion luminescence materials. Prepared by the way of improved tungsten powder, or the use of nano tungstate doped samples, further improving luminous intensity and color purity.

Now, rare earth tungstate and infrared luminescent materials show good prospects in flat panel display, solid laser, solar cells and other fields. Therefore, they have become the research objects of experts and scholars from various countries. With the popularization of nanotechnology, nanometer rare earth tungstate will continue to expand its scope of application. At present, there are rare earth tungstate applications in the electronics industry and medical industry.
