Dart is a kind of gentleman movement which integrates sports, fitness and entertainment. In 1930s, darts became more professional, and there’re more professional associations, competitions, and masters. But what kind of darts that professional athletes would use?

Philip · Douglas · Taylor, a legend of international darts circles, said that he trusted his own darts, and would put the darts that had used in the cupboard of treasure, and then took a new set of darts every time in the championship. Since everything has been going well with a brand of darts, he has signed a long-term contract with the company, which has given him confidence.

So what kind of dart that has given him confidence? It’s the dart used in official competitions - tungsten alloy darts. Most professional competitors would use tungsten heavy alloy darts. The main part of tungsten alloy dart is made of tungsten and nickel composite metal materials, with tungsten content ranging from 70-97%. It has the advantages of large weight, small volume, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, durability, environmental friendly, etc, which is the most commonly used dart in the professional darts competitions.

Tungsten is a metal of very high density and high strength. For darts, the density is very important, because high-density darts can make the center of the dart more stable. Tungsten alloy dart weight is about 16~30 grams. Not all professional darts are  expensive. The darts they use are suitable for their own, whose weight are generally light, usually between 18-22 grams. It’s because they need responsive darts, and it must be felt comfortable. Most professional players use water drop or pear shaped small tail fins, because their darts are very concentrated, and small tail fins can reduce mutual interference.

In addition, dart prodigy Nathan Bradley, and 2017 World Darts Championship champion Michael Fan Girvin, use tungsten alloy darts in the international competitions. For occupation players, dart is not a tool, but a partner of the player. Apart from selecting equipment, it also depends on the time to run well with your partner.
