Tungsten Alloy Shielding for Medical Industry

Tungsten alloy shielding materials are classified into two groups. One is tungsten heavy alloy materials, which is mainly composed by mixing more than 90% of the tungsten powder and other metal powder such as nickel, iron, and copper powder.

The other is made for flexible heat-resistant shield immersed in ferrotungsten metal powder that has silicone or resin polymers. It is the first choice for manufacturing medical radiation shielding for it has the characteristics of high density, high radiation shielding and environmental friendly.

As a professional application of tungsten alloy shielding products, tungsten alloy shielding devices can be used as shielding materials for medical accelerators such as medical linear accelerator, medical multi page grating, X-ray therapy machine, etc. They are often used in radiation therapy. The range of X radiation energy used in radiotherapy is 1-25MV. Tungsten alloy radiation therapy shielding can reduce the particle beam or light waves to make the particle beam along a specific direction, which allows only the shield and treatment of parallel rays through, or make the space beam body becomes narrower so as to limit the amount of radiation.

In addition, tungsten alloy medical can be used for the following shielding:

Injector Shield

Tungsten alloy injector shielding is a medical instrument that is made of tungsten alloy and used for medical injection of radioactive medicine. The tungsten alloy injector shield is the shielding effect of high-density tungsten alloy on radioactive particles. Tungsten alloy density up to 16.5-19.0g/cm3, which has a good shielding effectiveness on radioactive particles.

Tungsten Alloy Shielding Tank

Tungsten alloy shielding tank is also a kind of tungsten alloy shielding products used for containing radioactive drugs in medical treatment. Tungsten alloy shielding tank are mainly used to shield radioactive materials, including medical radioactive injection, medicine, X, gamma ray.

Medical Radiography

Tungsten alloy Medical shield can be used as shielding material of CT topographic scanner. The CT scanner produces X light, a powerful electromagnetic energy. This high energy level allows X light to pass directly through most of the soft tissues of the body. The rays penetrating the human body are absorbed by tungsten radiation shields, and the data are transmitted to the computer and using the principle of light and shade to be imaged.

Radioactive Tracer

Tungsten alloy shielding for medical can be used as a shield for extracting shielding injector and PET shielding injector. There is a 2mm thick tungsten alloy component on the injector. That component can protect the arm from radiation while the syringe extracts radioactive agents. When the agent is injected into the human body, tungsten alloy parts can be removed. And the disassembly is very simple. The shield is provided with a knob, so shield and injector can be firmly fixed.
