4.0 Shielding Material Applications

4.1 Medical Equipment

Tungsten heavy alloy is excellent shielding materials because of their high density and absorption of x-ray. It’s used in collimator, wing protection component, eliminating penumbra and the shielding component of the medical linear belt feeder.

 

4.2 Oil Well Tester

Oil Well Tester is used to measure the oil content of the surface layer under several thousand meters of reservoir. It has the advantages of small volume, high accuracy, long service life the original when tungsten heavy alloy replaced lead shielding components. 

 

4.3 Thermoelectric Generator

Thermoelectric generator is a kind of fusion energy generating equipment by using radioisotope. Tungsten heavy alloy can be used as its container. It has been widely used in weather stations, light buoys, audio signals, telecommunications, and oceanographic research, etc.

Rivet head can be used longer ten times to a hundred times if use tungsten heavy alloy as the material. Tungsten heavy alloy can also be used as welding nozzle material in spot welding machine.

 

5.2 Contact Material

In some high current and voltage switches, using tungsten heavy alloy as the contact material can resist electric corrosion and oxidation, which will be widely used in ultra high pressure technology.

 

6.0 Others 

 

In the United States, tungsten heavy alloy can be used as the precise balance of the crankshaft of the car in a high performance competition. In the international darts tournament, occupation players’ tungsten alloy darts are made of tungsten alloy darts shafts. The golf racket and tennis racket are inlaid with tungsten heavy alloy bars, which can increase the racket's momentum and reduce its vibration. Tungsten heavy alloy can also be used on the javelin to balance the flight and land accurate.
