Price trend chart of rare earth products from January 2025 to January 2026

In the light rare earth market, in the first ten days, affected by tight spot market supply, China's strengthened export controls on dual-use items to Japan, and Northern Rare Earth's rare earth concentrate transaction price for the first quarter of 2026 increased month-on-month, suppliers steadily raised quotations; in the last ten days, praseodymium-neodymium prices first fell then rose, with downstream users' fear-of-heights sentiment somewhat intensified due to the obvious price increases in the first ten days, combined with weakening previous bullish support, suppliers rationally lowered quotations, but towards the end of the month, driven by repeated new highs in precious metals and some minor metals prices, praseodymium-neodymium prices saw strong adjustments.

In the medium and heavy rare earth market, in the first ten days, affected by favorable trends in the light rare earth market, relatively strong production cost support, and increased downstream user replenishment, dysprosium-terbium prices rose to some extent, but in the last ten days, due to slow follow-up of downstream demand, dysprosium-terbium prices fell back again.
