Rare earth market update on January 22, 2026

The domestic rare earth market overall showed a weak downward trend, with mainstream product prices continuing to decline slightly.

Among them, praseodymium-neodymium oxide price decreased by approximately RMB 3,000/ton, gadolinium oxide price decreased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, and holmium oxide price decreased by approximately RMB 4,000/ton. Under the recent oscillating decline in raw material prices, prices of rare earth permanent magnet materials also declined synchronously, such as 55N neodymium-iron-boron blank block prices decreased by approximately RMB 1/kg.

From the supply side, affected by stricter environmental crackdown policies, higher production costs, and long-term low downstream demand, some rare earth manufacturers have reduced output, leading to tightening supply of some products. From the demand side, first, downstream users have a relatively obvious "buy on rise, not on fall" mentality, making it difficult to increase market demand; second, current rare earth prices are not low (compared to before New Year's Day), combined with tight market liquidity and complex and volatile global economic situation, many buyers' consumption has become cautious.

On the news front: Northern Rare Earth expects to achieve net profit attributable to owners of the parent company of RMB 217.6 million to RMB 235.6 million in 2025, which will increase by RMB 117.2 million to RMB 135.2 million compared to the same period last year, increased by 116.67% to 134.60% year-on-year; it expects to achieve net profit attributable to owners of the parent company excluding non-recurring gains and losses of RMB 196 million to RMB 214 million, which will increase by RMB 105.9 million to RMB 123.9 million compared to the same period last year, increased by 117.46% to 137.43% year-on-year.
