WO3 may be used to prepare an advanced functional material - a thermal insulation coating for applying on architectural glass. It is said that this new type of building energy-saving coating tested by Building Materials Testing Center does not contain harmful substances such as benzene and formaldehyde, which is safe and environmentally friendly. Moreover, the transparent coating has the characteristics of excellent spectral selectivity, high visible light transmittance, short-wave ultraviolet shielding ability, high near-infrared shielding ratio, and strong far-infrared reflectivity. So, such coating may be applied to glass coating to achieve the effect of high transparency, high heat insulation and energy conservation.

WO3 is a near-infrared shielding material, that is, a heat insulating material, with the performance of shielding ultraviolet rays. These heat insulation materials may be thermal insulation films or heat insulating glasses. Due to the excellent reversible photochromic properties of tungsten trioxide nano particles, these thermal insulating materials have been more and more widely applied in the heat insulation field of architectural glass.
